Volunteers from local HCA Florida Health hospitals, including UCF Lake Nona Hospital, showed up at the fourth annual First Aid Fair at Keiser University on July 17 to help more than 200 Girl Scouts of Citrus in attendance earn their first aid badges. The team taught Hands Only CPR, Stop The Bleed and how to call 9-1-1 to Girl Scouts of all levels, ranging from Daisy Scouts to Ambassadors, as well as their troop leaders and family members.
“HCA Florida Healthcare is fortunate to have so many colleagues with a passion for supporting our community,” said Wendy Brandon, Chief Executive Officer, UCF Lake Nona Hospital. “We are proud of HCA Healthcare’s partnership with Girl Scouts of America and its positive impact on these young women.”
In addition to HCA Florida Healthcare’s local support of Girl Scouts of Citrus, the HCA Healthcare Foundation and Girl Scouts of the USA teamed up last year to develop a patch program for grades 4 – 12 focused on mental wellness, furthering the positive impact these hospitals are making on young people in the local community.
