Aloft Lake Nona and Althea Lake Nona Events Center Opens in Orlando’s Fastest-Growing and Most Innovative Community

February 8, 2024 by Jenny Lynn and Jenny Lynn

Aloft Lake Nona announced its opening in January in Lake Nona, a modern metropolis that is renowned for being home to the “World’s Most Technologically Advanced Hotel” and a destination with world-class health and fitness facilities. With 205 urban-inspired guestrooms and 15 suites, a sports-themed restaurant, and the 10,000-square-foot Althea Lake Nona Events Center, Aloft Lake Nona will be the closest hotel to the largest tennis facility in the world, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, near the bustling Lake Nona Town Center.

“We are proud to be opening Aloft Lake Nona in this vibrant community nationally recognized for its extraordinary entertainment, public art, innovative dining, and world-class sports venues,” says John Luciew, Area General Manager of Aloft Lake Nona. “We are honored to pay tribute to one of the world’s greatest African American tennis athletes of all time, Althea Neale Gibson, an iconic athlete challenging diversity in sports and redefining excellence in her career. Our dedicated Althea Lake Nona Events Center will be the connective social thread to inspire new ideas and create unparalleled experiences for groups, athletes, and global travelers.”

After the opening of Brightline’s Orlando Station this fall, Aloft Lake Nona will accommodate the increasing demand from visitors and sports tourism. The Althea Lake Nona Events Center is poised to become a popular destination for visitors looking for event venues. As the first African American to win a Grand Slam title, Gibson went on to shatter world records and won Wimbledon, the US Nationals, and 11 Grand Slam tournaments. Althea pioneered sports and inspired the modern events center connected to the new boutique hotel.

With a total of 17,032 square feet of event space including a 6,000-square-foot Gibson ballroom, Althea Lake Nona Events Center and Aloft Lake Nona offer versatile indoor and outdoor options that feature high-tech amenities. This expansive area can be divided into five, smaller private ballrooms, each featuring playful geometric ceilings and a chic blend of modern blue, light cream, and dark wood accents, creating a warm and stylish event setting.

Additional venues include a spacious ballroom foyer with floor-to-ceiling windows, a boardroom named Tactic, and three meeting rooms – Game, Set, and Match. In addition to these indoor spaces, Aloft Lake Nona provides outdoor event spaces, including a lush palm-tree-lined pool deck and a lakefront backyard, offering a picturesque backdrop for social cocktail hours, waterfront weddings, and celebratory events year-round.

Designed by HC Architecture, Aloft Lake Nona boasts 205 loft-style guestrooms and 15 one-bedroom suites featuring airy 9-foot-high ceilings with open floor plans, ultra-plush platform beds, Bliss® Spa bathroom amenities, walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, and high-speed WiFi with LCD TVs. The eclectic decor with pops of electric orange, grays, and locally sourced wallpaper has design nods to the hotel’s lively music and technology roots with its own Marshall retro-looking sound system and the latest in-room technology.

Aloft Lake Nona’s contemporary, art-forward, and spacious lobby invites guests to enjoy multiple dining options spearheaded by Chef Guillaume Robin, a Michelin-recommended chef who also oversees Althea’s elevated catering and events menus. Tempo + Grace, an all-day indoor and outdoor restaurant with sports-inspired decor and fanfare, offers hearty, handcrafted dishes and health-minded options with nutritious locally sourced ingredients. Located adjacent to the ground-level restaurant, Re:Mix® Lounge & WXYZ® Bar will host live music daily alongside signature cocktails and curated bites within an energetic atmosphere with multiple LCD TVs to catch the latest game while Re:fuel by Aloft℠ offers a 24/7 grab-and-go pantry of sweet and savory options.

Additional Aloft Lake Nona amenities include: a natural saline Splash Pool with comfortable lounge seating, an adjacent ground-level 24-hour Re:Charge℠ gym featuring Technogym equipment and business center, as well as complimentary electric bikes and Move Nona‘s daily community shuttles in partnership with Beep.

Located on Lake Nona Boulevard just north of SR 417 and 10 minutes from Orlando International Airport, the six-story hotel is within walking distance from Lake Nona Town Center and the area’s top sports attractions including Drive Shack, Lake Nona Performance Club,  the 100-court U.S. Tennis Association National Campus, and more than 40 miles of public trails. With 4 million square feet of destination activities, shopping, dining and entertainment within Lake Nona Town Center, Aloft Lake Nona’s guests will have endless access to chef-driven restaurants, year-round live entertainment, and public art installations.
