IMMERSE Fan Favorite Orlando Vocal Collective Takes Center Stage This Summer, Presented by Massey Services

Creative City Project invites audiences to experience one of the most celebrated performances from its annual IMMERSE festival in a whole new way. This summer, the Orlando Vocal Collective is stepping into the spotlight with its own featured performance. “An Evening With the Orlando Vocal Collective” presented by Massey Services offers an intimate experience with the company’s signature artistry, featuring expanded vocal arrangements of OVC’s favorites. The show invites audiences into an encounter with the group’s nuanced arrangements and world-class vocalists. An ensemble of 11 singers and a four-piece band reimagines beloved songs spanning generations, from the iconic sounds of Janet Jackson and Earth, Wind & Fire to fresh arrangements of artists celebrated in past IMMERSE performances, including Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. OVC brings these songs to life through thrilling harmonies and world-class lead vocals.

Performances (75 minutes) are Thursday, Aug. 6, Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, at 1010 West in the heart of Downtown Orlando.

“Orlando Vocal Collective’s performances at IMMERSE Fest have been unforgettable highlights of the festival,” says Melyssa Marshall, executive director of Creative City Project.  “They are a true gift to our community, showcasing the very best of the creative talent in Central Florida, and we’re excited to partner with them for our next show.”

“This is Orlando Vocal Collective in a way audiences haven’t experienced before: intimate, honest and centered on the heart of who we are,” says Chris Keough, founder and director of Orlando Vocal Collective. “We’re focusing in on the voices, our connection and our love for the vocal arts, creating something that feels deeply special and beautifully human.”

“Orlando Vocal Collective’s performances are big enough to fill the city streets during IMMERSE. For the last two years, I’ve watched audiences stand in awe of OVC’s talent,” says Creative City Project founder and artistic director, Cole NeSmith. “Gathering in this more intimate space is going to be even more powerful. This is one of those shows that will make people say, ‘I’m glad I live in such a Creative City.’”

About Creative City Project

Creative City Project began in 2012 as a group of artists performing on street corners and in plazas around Downtown Orlando. The event was renamed IMMERSE at the beginning of 2017. Its mission is three-fold: To cultivate a thriving arts community in Central Florida, to nurture a deeper sense of ownership of and care for Orlando among its residents, and to shape the global perception of The City Beautiful as one known for innovation and creativity. In addition to IMMERSE, Creative City Project is committed to helping guests live a life of creativity and adventure by connecting them with meaningful arts experiences throughout the year. Each Monday, Creative City Project releases “This Week In Art” video series highlighting interesting arts events happening across Central Florida that week.
