Nona. Life. Style: Fall Fashion Formulas

November 8, 2023 by Marissa Burns

I’m not much into football. (Shocker, I know.) But I can certainly get behind a good game plan when it comes to getting dressed. With all the parties, outings and festivities coming up this month, I want to share some easy outfit formulas. These easy-to-replicate combos will help you score a winning look this season. Annnnnd just in case you prefer to dress shop somewhere that doesn’t also sell mayonnaise in bulk…I’ve got a treat for you! (No hard feelings, Sam’s. We still love you.) There’s a new boutique in town, and I’m so pumped to share it with you. This month, I’ve teamed up with Nona’s new Apricot Lane Boutique to share three go-to looks, perfect for all your fall celebrations!

Hostess With the Mostest

Your house, 4 o’clock, right? If you are tasked with hosting the herd this Thanksgiving, no doubt your biggest priority is the food. That’s why I love this low-maintenance first look. When you’re elbow deep in mashed potatoes, the table isn’t set and you start to question if you’ve done the turkey roasting math correctly, it helps to know at least your look is on point. This printed maxi dress is perfect for so many reasons. Its rich colors will work year ’round, and it just shouts sophistication. Top the elastic waistband with a neutral belt, add a statement earring and – voila – you are totally dressed to impress with little effort required. (Plus, no zippers or buttons to impede your pie indulgence.) So, try this out for instant chic that will keep you comfortable and ensure you look polished all day long, no matter how those potatoes turn out.

Fashion Formula: Maxi Dress + Neutral Belt + Statement Earring

Girl on the Go

If you are traveling this holiday season, aim for cute meets comfortable. (But avoid the jumpsuit + public restroom situation at all costs. You’re welcome.) This combo will help you arrive in style. You’ll want a classic mom jean with a little bit of stretch. And since light layers are a must, I suggest topping a white button up with a punchy, playful sweater. And then complete the look with neutral sneakers and a chic crossbody. If jeans aren’t your thing, you have got to check out Apricot Lane’s selection of Spanx brand leggings, joggers and sweats. So chic and so perfect for travel! This perfect pairing will take you from baggage claim to dressed for dinner in a jiff.

Foolproof Favorite

Pumpkin patch? Family pictures? Brunch with your buds? Date night? I’ve cracked the code for a foolproof fall outfit fave. Try out a swing dress! It’s the rare combination of both super comfy and super trendy! If the length feels too short, you can add tights or leggings. This style can often feel girly and sweet, so if you want to add some edge, choose a bold, graphic print. (Don’t you just love this one?) You’ll also want to add the right accessories to make this piece feel appropriate for fall. I suggest a wide-brimmed fall fedora and boots. It feels fresh paired with a chunky boot, or you can try out a riding boot for a more structured, preppy look.

Fashion Formula: Swing Dress + Fall Fedora + Boots

With their bold colors and surprising mix of styles, I have no doubt you’ll find something to fall for at Apricot Lane this season. So pay them a visit to check out all these great featured pieces and more. You can find Apricot Lane Boutique in the Eagle Creek shopping center across from Don Julio’s. Also, be sure to shop their Pink Friday event on November 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They’ll have special promotions, mocktails, giveaways and swag bags for the first 20 customers!

So what are you waiting for? Get off the bench and shop local, my friends. And add these formulas to your playbook to score some winning fall looks.
