If you’re like many other Lake Nonans who jumped into the new year with new resolutions and are looking for inspiration to keep the momentum going, look no further than right outside your front door.
Home to award-winning hospitals, top-notch training and sporting facilities, community parks, miles of trails and engaging public art, Lake Nona is designed to support healthy living for everyone who lives, works and plays here. Regardless of your resolutions, Lake Nona can help you stay on the right track when it comes to crushing your health and fitness goals this year.
Embrace the Great Outdoors
With parks around every corner and access to over 44 miles of trails, there are plenty of reasons to get outside. Pocket parks located throughout Lake Nona neighborhoods guarantee a short walk from every home or visit one or both of Lake Nona’s two City of Orlando parks: Heroes Community Park and McCoy Community Park.
Within walking distance of Laureate Park Elementary School, Heroes Community Park features four multi-use fields lit for night activities. The park also has plenty of green space and a 12-foot-wide trail for walking and jogging. Or play ball at the 25-acre McCoy Community Park with a pony field, softball field, and two Little League fields.
Try something new by attending any of the hundreds of community events hosted by Lake Nona each year to get your heart pumping, including weekly yoga classes and club cardio sessions for all skill levels. When you feel the need to unwind, grab your furry friend and a glass of wine and head over to Crescent Park for a pup-tastic “yappy hour” with activities for the whole family. Most community events are available at no cost, so keep up with the Lake Nona Facebook page (facebook.com/learnlakenona/events) to stay in-the-know on upcoming events.
Stay Active
Located in the heart of Lake Nona, the Lake Nona Performance Club (LNPC) is designed for both body and mind conditioning with its state-of-the-art training facilities, the Chopra Mind-Body Zone and more. Keep your routine fresh with new workouts at the ROX Climbing Gym, the sports performance track or the aquatic center. Take time to focus on your mental health with meditation or sound healing to promote whole-person health.
At the 98-court United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, both pros and newbies can play tennis, pickleball and padel on designated courts. There are also plenty of programs for kids and adults of all skill and ability levels so the entire family can get in on the game.
Beyond the tennis court, families can also stay active at Nona Adventure Park by climbing the inflatable aqua park/obstacle course, riding the waves at Nona Wake cable park or tackling the ropes courses. XL Soccer World provides another place for families to stay active together with multiple indoor multi-purpose fields for soccer, Futsal, lacrosse, flag football and volleyball.
