Lake Nona Implements Arts & Experiences Fee

April 27, 2023 by Camille Ruiz Mangual

Orlando, FL/USA-4/10/20: The exterior of the Town Center at Laureate Park at Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida.

Every day, Lake Nona continues to grow with a focus on innovation, technology and unique experiences for the community. No matter where you are, you will feel an infectious energy that you can’t seem to find elsewhere.

Containing everything from nightly activities like concerts and Art After Dark and special events like the weekly Farmers’ Market to the transformative research facilities, hospitals and educational institutions of Medical City, Lake Nona is one of the most desirable places to live, learn, work and even relax.

One of the highlights of the Lake Nona area is the Lake Nona Town Center, one of Central Florida’s shopping and entertainment destinations. Visitors know the Lake Nona Town Center comes alive with impressive public arts and one-of-a-kind experiences, along with boutiques, hotels, event venues, and delightful restaurants.

On April 1, 2023, Lake Nona began implementing an Arts & Experiences Fee (A&E) on the sales of taxable goods and services within select commercial areas in the community. The fee is a 1% surcharge on sales up to the first $5,000 and will appear on each receipt. This fee will initially be applied in businesses that sell goods and services subject to Florida state tax within and surrounding the Lake Nona Town Center. As Lake Nona continues to expand and offer new experiences, the A&E fee may extend into different areas of the community. The A&E fee will allow the community to generate a sustainable source of funds to ensure the continued growth of the experiences, public infrastructure, arts, and more that Lake Nona residents are so fond of. This fee will also ensure that Lake Nona continues to be a premiere destination and flourishing environment for residents, businesses and all others to thrive.
