BREAKING: New Fitness and Wellness Facility to Debut in Lake Nona

March 2, 2018 by Nicole LaBosco

Lake Nona is the world’s most sophisticated wellness community.

On March 2 at the sixth annual Lake Nona Impact Forum, Tavistock announced a state-of-the-art performance, wellness and medically integrated fitness facility. This innovative creation is in partnership with Signet, LLC and Integrated Wellness Partners (IWP). With Lake Nona dubbed as the world’s most sophisticated wellness community by the Global Wellness Institute, this facility is sure to make a lasting impact.

The Lake Nona Wellness and Fitness Center will be over 100,000 square feet.

The center will be 110,000+ square feet and will be located across from Lake Nona Medical City in the Lake Nona Town Center’s second phase of development. The wellness facility is slated as one of the most comprehensive in the region, as it will offer several options of health and wellbeing programs and services for the entire community. Although rates have yet to be established, memberships will be available.

Located in the heart of the Lake Nona Town Center, the Wellness Center will be integrated into Lake Nona’s plans for health and wellness.

Whether you are a Lake Nona resident or employee, an elite athlete or a recreational fitness and sports enthusiast, or are looking for a place for the whole family, the Lake Nona Wellness Center will ensure each member receives a personalized approach. Members will receive plans tailored to their specific needs, which will be updated in real time and based on member results. This will include the staffing model, intake process and the technology provided.

Many amenities will be available to members, including cardio equipment.

Jim Ellis is the Executive Vice President and the Managing Director of IWP and he believes the next evolution in health and wellness will come with the development of the Lake Nona Wellness Center.

“The only solution to overcoming the national healthcare crisis is prevention, that comes ultimately through lifestyle change,” said Ellis. “The overwhelming evidence shows that we need to deliver impactful solutions that create community environments where, increasingly, the default choices for individuals, families and employees are healthy choices. The Lake Nona Wellness Center delivers on the vision and promise made by Tavistock to the entire Lake Nona community to offer its membership a healthy, happy lifestyle. This will then have a ripple effect on not only the Lake Nona community but many others for years to come as Lake Nona becomes a health and wellness flagship model for the country and around the world.”

One of the most striking features of the structure is the outdoor pool.

A medically-based fitness center for all ages and levels of fitness, a sports performance training center for all ages and abilities, physician offices, community education spaces and community-based programming will all be readily available and accessible with the creation of the Lake Nona Wellness Center.

Childcare facilities with outdoor play areas will be included.

The ultramodern and advanced center will offer the Lake Nona community experts in health, wellness and medicine, physical resources, and a commitment to furthering and advancing the understanding of the science around health and wellness promotion. Technogym, a Lake Nona partner, will be featured in the fitness center through first-class equipment and on-demand fitness. This alliance began to create the first seamlessly connected fitness ecosystem in the U.S., right here in Lake Nona. Physical amenities of the new Lake Nona Wellness Center will include the following:

  •      Wellness Plaza
  •      Zen Garden
  •      Outdoor Training Turf
  •      Outdoor Classroom
  •      Indoor and Outdoor Pools
  •      Indoor Climbing Wall
  •      Indoor/Outdoor Demonstration Kitchen
  •      Daylighted Public Concourse
  •      Childcare Facilities with Outdoor Play
  •      A Sports Performance Area with 40-Yard Sprint Track
An interior rock climbing wall is just one of the many features planned for the Fitness and Wellness Center.

“The creation of this world-class facility in Lake Nona is yet another example of how we are building out one of the most unique and comprehensive wellness communities in the country,” said Gloria Caulfield, executive director of the Lake Nona Institute. “This best-in-class collaboration with Signet and IWP will create an incredible regional asset, offering world-class programs and services across the entire spectrum of health and wellbeing. No matter where you are on your personal wellbeing journey, this new campus will offer something to help get you to that next step.”

With a focus on health and wellbeing, the new facility will be right at place in Medical City.
