Florida Puerto Rican Parade 2022 Scholarship
The Florida Puerto Rican Parade Inc. announced the opening of the application period for the 2022 Scholarships Fund Program that provides financial assistance to Central Florida’s GED holders, high school seniors, and college students to help them reach their academic goals. The students interested in applying for this scholarship must meet the following requirements:
• Be a GED holder or high school senior student, currently attend an accredited college institution or technical college, or plan to enroll in a full-time accredited college or university.
• Demonstrate potential for academic and leadership success within the community.
• Indicate extracurricular activities, including but not limited to sports and community activities.
• Show academic performance (minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA).
• Complete a required 1,000-word essay in Spanish or English about one of the prompts provided on floridapuertoricanparade.org/scholarship.
Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund
The application period for scholarships of up to $5,000 for Central Florida Hispanic students is now open. Please visit www.hhsfmo.org to access the online application. The deadline to submit applications is February 25. To qualify for a scholarship, students must:
• Be of Hispanic heritage
• Have a minimum overall unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students and undergraduate students
• Plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree and enroll full-time (12 credit hours) in the fall and spring at University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Seminole State College, Lake Sumter State College, Rollins College, or AdventHealth University
• Be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, DACA, or eligible non-citizen as defined by the scholarship fund
• Apply for Federal Financial Aid using the FAFSA
The following are preferred, but not required:
• Students who are able to demonstrate an evident financial need
• Students pursuing degrees in any of the following areas
• Degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields
• Degrees that support Central Florida’s anchor industries, such as construction management and hospitality management
• Degrees that represent economic priorities in the region, such as degrees in the arts, business management/economics and education.
Central Florida Foundation
Scholarship season is in full swing at CFF with funds accepting applications through Feb. 11. The current scholarships are for:
• Continuing education for women ages 30 and up
• Employees of Village on the Green pursuing an undergraduate degree
• Students from Jones High School
• A student from Deland High School
• Students enrolling at Orange Technical College
