Brightline Trains Prepare for Grand Opening in Orlando

June 6, 2023 by Camille Ruiz Mangual

Brightline trains in Florida will soon begin running between South Florida (Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach) and Orlando. Final preparations are being made for the grand opening, but tickets are now on sale for trips between September 1, 2023 through January 7, 2024. More inventory will be released following the grand opening.

One-way tickets for Smart service start at $79 for adults and $39 for children. Smart service includes complimentary Wi-Fi and power outlets. One-way Premium seats start at $149. Premium seats include the Wi-Fi and power outlets in addition to complimentary snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, access to the premium lounge, priority boarding, a complimentary first checked bag, complimentary ride share to and from the station within a 5-mile radius, and extra seat space. Brightline also plans to offer ticket bundles that would cost less than $199 one way for a family of four. Tickets are available at gobrightline.com or on the Brightline app.

The Brightline Orlando station will offer Brightline+ products including shuttles, Uber and car rental options. After booking, guests will receive email confirmation and instruction on how to add extras such as the Brightline+ options, checked baggage, and parking. Travelers using the Smart service can check a bag for $25 per bag.

In Orlando, parking is available at the MCO Garage C with costs ranging from $2 for 30 minutes to $19 per day or Economy lot parking at $10 for day. The 37,350 square foot Brightline Orlando Station is located in the airport’s new Train Station facility next to Terminal C.

In South Florida, Brightline offers various mobility options such as Uber, fixed route shuttles to the airports, neighborhood electric vehicles and event shuttles. Guests traveling with Premium service can also use Brightline’s first and last-mile service to travel to and from the station using complimentary Uber rides anywhere within a five mile radius in South Florida.

Service will include 16 daily round trips with hourly departures between Miami and Orlando. Brightline’s non-stop trains can travel between Miami and Orlando in two hours and 59 minutes. The regular 3 hour and 30 minute service from Orlando to Miami will stop at all Brightline stations including West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Aventura. There will also be dedicated trains service commuters and the South Florida region between Miami and West Palm Beach. Trains will depart at 5:00 AM from West Palm Beach and until 12:45 AM out of Miami.

Many people may be unfamiliar with train travel, having only experienced the Amtrak and other regional rails in the northeast. Brightline aims to change the general perception of train travel. According to Brightline, boarding lounges are decked out with comfortable seats, power outlets, USB plugs, and a general modern feel. After passing through security, guests will be able to experience amenities Brightline is known for such as:

  • Mary Mary Bar. Complete with a panoramic view overlooking the train platforms, the sit-down bar serves hand-crafted cocktails and light bites.
  • The Iconic split-flap message board. In a nostalgic nod to historic train stations, the board rotates alphanumeric text and/or graphic to form a message. The broad will display updated train schedules, boarding times, news, and other announcements.
  • MRKT Place. A retail experience where guests can purchase last-minute gifts, sundries, and other refreshments.
  • Amenities throughout the station include Wi-Fi, charging stations, 87 big screen televisions, and a BrightKids children’s play area.

Once onboard, seats are larger than first class airplane seats and complete with luxury leather bound chairs, tray tables, and more outlets. Trains have free Wi-Fi and carts offering refreshments.

Though the schedule is always subject to change, as of right now, the opening schedule is:

Weekdays

  • Hourly southbound departures from Orlando to Miami starting at 5:00 AM until 8:50 PM
