USTA National Campus Buckles Up for a Busy March

March 7, 2022 by Daniel Pyser

The month of March at the USTA National Campus is dominated by college tennis. With the College MatchDay events concluding last month, UCF now takes center stage as the bulk of their home schedule takes place in March.

The UCF men’s and women’s tennis teams have called the USTA National Campus home, playing all of their home matches in Lake Nona since it opened in 2017. They also practice at the campus and have their locker rooms and coaches offices onsite.

Both programs have enjoyed success since the campus opened, setting a number of program milestones and establishing themselves as true national contenders.

The men’s and women’s teams both entered the 2022 dual match season ranked in the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25 but have had to navigate tough schedules against nationally-ranked opponents early in the season. Each team has eight home matches in March and an opportunity to gain momentum heading into the latter half of the season.

Both teams play nationally-ranked Michigan on March 5, and that match will feature a number of the community activities that are commonly seen at the popular College MatchDay events.

The men’s March home schedule also includes matches against Nebraska and Illinois as well as a conference match against SMU, while the women take on reigning national champions Texas on March 6 as well as Oklahoma State and in-state rival FAU later in the month.

March 5 will also be a notable day as it continues the yearlong celebration of the USTA National Campus’ five-year anniversary. This is highlighted by a monthly promotion that will allow players to reserve courts for $5. The promotion is available on the 5th of every month through the end of the year with the only condition being that players must call to reserve the discounted courts.

There will be other promotions throughout the year, including $5 food items on select days at the Net Post Grill as well as surprises and delights for longtime campus patrons. There are also larger celebrations planned, including on May 5, to celebrate five years of the campus being a staple of the Lake Nona community.

Also in March will be the return of the popular Spring Break Camp, which is a three-day version of the campus’ popular Summer Camp program for kids while they are out of school for the week. This year, the camp takes place March 15-17 and features youth programming for all ages and abilities.
