Small Business Saturday is a holiday held during the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the United States. The date of the event is always on the last Saturday of November, so it usually falls between Nov. 24 and Nov. 30. This event gives small businesses the chance to share their brand and showcase the quality of goods and services while developing a relationship with local businesses, who are all working towards a common goal – to make Lake Nona a place to call home. From artisans, jewelry, restaurants, and entertainment, Lake Nona Shop Saturday supports all types of retailers and service providers. Small Business Saturday is a day to #shopsmall in Lake Nona.
The holiday itself was created by American Express in 2010 and aggressively marketed via social media, radio, and national broadcasting. Today, it is a registered trademark of American Express. This Nov. 30, be a part of the fifth annual holiday shopping tradition in Lake Nona.
Rhys and I started our very first Small Business Saturday event in 2015 out of our backyard. When we became owners of Nonahood News, it became clear to us that we would continue the movement of Small Business Saturday as Lake Nona’s Neighborhood Champions. Even though Shop Small is a nationwide movement, Nonahood News wanted to bring it closer to home by rallying our local businesses and community.
We were inspired by the need that we saw which was to get our local businesses and community together to encourage all of us to invest our time and hard-earned money back into our community.
Lake Nona Shop Small is a Nonahood News event created for the community by the community! So whether you are a small business owner or a consumer, please join us and support your local businesses while enjoying a day of shopping, entertainment, and fun!
