NorthLake Park has TWO district-level Red Ribbon Contest winners!
Be happy. Be brave. Be drug-free. That was this year’s Red Ribbon Week theme to encourage children, families, and communities to live healthy, happy, and drug-free lives. OCPS had a poster contest and essay/poem contest to promote Red Ribbon Week throughout the district. Third grader Kullen McKenna won first place in the district in the elementary school essay/poem contest. Callie Ortiz, also a third grader, won second place in the elementary poster contest. NLP is very proud of these two young ladies for reminding us that we are all empowered to shape our communities through positivity, bravery, and strength.
Start With Hello Week
During Sept. 21-25, NLP participated in the “Start With Hello” initiative. This program, in conjunction with Sandy Hook Promise, is an opportunity for schools across the U.S. to engage their communities in activities that celebrate social inclusiveness. Students were encouraged to participate at home and on campus. Some of the theme days included “Say Hello Day,” “Positive Post-It Note Tuesday,” “Mix It Up Day,” and others. We hope that these simple actions raise awareness, educate students and the community on ways to reduce isolation, and increase connectedness.
