Nemours Children’s is the only health system in Central Florida to receive theMagnet® with Distinction Recognition

Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida, has earned the prestigious Magnet® with Distinction Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. The Magnet® with Distinction recognition honors hospitals that exceed ANCC’s scoring criteria required to attain Magnet® designation, making Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida, the only hospital system in Central Florida, and just the third in the state, to achieve this honor.

“Magnet® recognition is an honor that reflects our commitment to exceptional and high‑quality care and reflects that we stand among the very best in nursing,” said Martha McGill, BSN, MBA, MHA, president of the Central Florida Region of Nemours Children’s Health. “This achievement is the culmination of a rigorous journey that highlights the tremendous skill and compassion of our nursing team and caregivers, as well as our deep commitment to delivering the best possible care to every child and family we serve.”

The Magnet Recognition Program® is considered the gold standard in nursing excellence, teamwork and patient care delivery. In recognizing Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida, the ANCC cited 16 exemplars, which underscore and validate that the health system meets and exceeds the highest standards of nursing required to attain Magnet status. These included areas in patient experience, clinical quality, nurse satisfaction and the organization’s Advanced Care at Home program.

Now, Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida, is among a distinguished community of Magnet-recognized organizations, with only approximately 10% of hospitals in the U.S. having achieved Magnet status and even fewer earning Magnet with Distinction.

“Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare delivery system, and this honor is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our nursing leadership and clinical nurses,” said Nicole Johnson, DNP, MBA, RN, NE-BC, CPEN, chief nursing and patient operations officer of Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida. “Our patients and families receive the best when they are in our care, and with this ANCC Magnet Recognition®, they can have confidence that the care they experience is anchored by some of the nation’s best nurses and interprofessional care teams. This achievement reflects the collaborative excellence and partnership of our integrated, interdisciplinary care staff.”

Throughout its journey in Central Florida, Nemours Children’s has systematically built the infrastructure, processes and culture required to meet ANCC’s rigorous standards. With this accomplishment, Nemours Children’s Health, Central Florida, joins its sister region, Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware Valley, which previously received Magnet recognition in 2012, 2017 and 2022.
