Louisiana Flood Relief Drive Organized by the LSU Alumni of Central Florida

August 21, 2016 by Lindsay Diven

Lake Nona Flood Relief CollectionWith less than two weeks until the start of College Football, the local alumni groups are coming together to support the flooding victims in Louisiana. We have many LSU graduates and other neighbors who are Cajun transplants. We are asking the Nonahood to come together and support the flood victims.

The recent flooding in Louisiana is the most devastating natural disaster to hit the U.S. since Hurricane Sandy left her wrath on the shores of New Jersey in 2012. Tens of thousands of families in fourteen Parishes in south Louisiana have lost their homes and belongings and are now displaced. The LSU Alumni of Central Florida is collecting items to help as many of those families as possible by collecting much needed items to help them as they start the long journey to recovery. FedEx has generously donated transportation of all goods at absolutely no charge to us.

Collections will be received at sites throughout the greater Orlando area for one week starting Monday, August 22nd, and will be shipped directly to Baton Rouge to be distributed by the LSU Alumni Association and the East Baton Rouge Parish Fire Dept.

If anyone can’t make it to one of our collection sites you can also go to www.lsuorandeaux.com and make a direct monetary donation to help flood victims.

Suggested/Needed items include:

  • New or clean, gently used clothing/shoes (all sizes)
