Lake Nona’s youngest residents will soon have a new option for early education with the addition of the Amazing Explorers Academy. The Central Florida-based preschool will bring a connected, STEAM-focused approach to its new location in the Laureate Park Village Center in 2017.
“To expand here to Lake Nona, a community that is committed and focused on innovation and collaboration, is a perfect fit for Amazing Explorers Academy,” said Marnie Forestieri, Chief Learning Officer and Owner.
The school, which opened its first location in 2015 in Oviedo, is the brainchild of a task force of educators, entrepreneurs, technology experts and concerned community leaders who sought to provide a different focus in early education. Children are exposed to innovative STEAM learning and an engaging curriculum, which was designed to introduce young students to the skills and challenges they will face in an increasingly connected, technology-based world.
The new Lake Nona location will include hands-on learning environments that include technology and arts studios modeled on successful educational and collaborative spaces. Students will have opportunities to explore multimedia, early programming, robotics and coding projects in the 12,000-square-foot facility that also features 4,500 square feet of outdoor playground space.
Amazing Explorers Academy is expected to open in the summer of 2017 and will accommodate up to 230 students from infancy through pre-kindergarten. Before and after school programs also will be available for elementary students.
Introducing Lake Nona’s youngest to the fundamentals of science, innovation and collaboration make Amazing Explorers Academy a welcome addition to the Lake Nona education scene. Forestieri says their goal is to “cultivate creativity, critical thinking skills and collaboration” in the next generation that will lead through the 21st century.
