On Monday, March 29, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida residents aged 40 or over are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 inoculation. The following Monday, on April 5, the vaccination eligibility widens to include any adult over the age of 18.
Vaccination sites are located at the Orange County Convention Center, Federal Retail Pharmacies, FEMA Vaccination Site at Valencia College West Campus, and other various FEMA sites.
The Orange County Convention Center will provide 3,400 vaccinations every day by appointment.
Valencia College’s West Campus is open every day of the week from 7 a.m. until supplies run out, and they only accept walk-ins.
Orange County Library South Trail Branch is home to another FEMA site and will provide vaccinations every day starting at 9 a.m., only taking walk-ins as well.
Barnett Park, furthermore, will provide testing until April 30. They are open each day of the week from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
To address the influx in depression and anxiety resulting from the pandemic, the Orange County Government has launched the OrangeConnects Program, which is made possible by mental health experts from the Orange County Community and Family Services Department.
The program will provide an Internet-based platform that will put users into contact with local mental health providers in confidentiality. A tool through the platform asks the patients a set of questions that will help match them to the best mental health providers.
