Goodwill Holding Food Drive to Support Survivors of Domestic Abuse

June 12, 2025 by Contributing Writer

Two local nonprofits are teaming up to rebuild lives and are asking the community for support. Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) is collecting nonperishable food items at its stores in Orange and Seminole counties June 1-22. The food drive is being held in partnership with WFTV 9 Family Connection. All donations will go to Annabel’s Closet, an organization that provides furniture and other household essentials to people leaving abusive situations. “We all have our own dreams, but for many people, their goal is to simply feel safe. Every can of food we collect builds a sense of security for these vulnerable members of our community,” said Mario Fernandez, COO at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida.
