Canvas Restaurant & Market Participates in Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month Through September 30

September 29, 2018 by Brittany Bhulai

It’s not too late to check out Canvas Restaurant & Market’s Magical Dining Month! You have until Sept. 30 to sit in on plenty of good eats. Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month allows people in the community to check out top restaurants at an affordable price. Menus are only $35 and come prefixed with usually three appetizers, four entrees, and three desserts.
If you haven’t seen it already, here is a look at the exclusive Canvas menu…

To start things off, three flavorful appetizers are served:

Kale Caesar
ciabatta crouton, grana padano, romaine, lemon vinaigrette

Calamari Fries
buttermilk marinade, roasted red pepper aioli

Habanero Glazed Chicken Wings
clover honey, lime zest, garlic-buttermilk sauce

The chicken wings were my favorite. They had a beautiful mix of sweet and salty flavors.

Up next are the entrees, which are very filling!

Shrimp Mofongo
roasted Roma tomatoes, citrus-saffron broth, plantain-cilantro fritter

Blackened Salmon (GF)
summer squash and lima bean succotash, Cajun cream sauce

Mojo Chicken Breast
Brussels sprouts, potatoes, tomatoes, tomatillo salsa

Oak Grilled Petite Beef Tender
wood-fired, chimichurri, saffron rice, black beans

My favorite dish was the salmon. It was not disappointing at all. The meat melted in my mouth like butter. However, the other three dishes were tastefully put together as well and they were all delicious.

Let’s get down to business. What did the dessert look like? I think they speak for themselves:

Cheesecake Of The Day
(which was chocolate)

Key Lime Tartlet
toasted meringue, graham crust

Triple Chocolate Spiced Pudding

Out of the three, the cheesecake takes the cake (yes, pun intended). The cheesecake flavor that is served will vary. I was given a chocolate-based cheesecake. The chocolate shell encased a smooth and thick goodness inside. Paired with the strawberries, the cake was incredible.

Canvas is just one of more than a hundred restaurants in the area participating in Magical Dining Month. All menus are prepared by the head chef in order to best showcase the restaurant. Canvas is also accommodating for those who have food allergies and specific diet preferences. There are gluten-free (GF), vegetarian (V) and vegan (VG) options available. Additionally, when you participate in the Magical Dining experience, “one dollar from each meal supports Best Buddies and Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida,” according to Visit Orlando.

Canvas Restaurant is located at 13615 Sachs Avenue, Orlando, FL 32827. You can also visit their website at canvaslakenona.com. To look at other participating locations, go to OrlandoMagicalDining.com. Happy eating!
