If you happen to be walking by the Bark Park in the Nonahood and see a speedy Bluetick Coonhound fly past you at lightning speed, that’s JET! Jet is the most handsome and sweetest dog you may ever meet. Jet’s new home is a far cry from him getting tied to a tree in West Virginia before being transported to a shelter to terminate his life. Jet never knew what it was to live in a home.
Kevin had never owned a dog and wanted to do his research before deciding to go to a shelter and meet some of the dogs who were in need. The day Kevin walked into the shelter, his life changed, and so did Jet’s. All the dogs were jumping to get Kevin’s attention while Jet stayed rather still in the background. Jet’s demeanor caught Kevin’s attention, and less than two hours later, the dog had a home and Kevin had a dog. This was the start of a lifelong friendship.
Kevin and Jet clung to each other during the pandemic, and both settled into a daily routine of walks, breakfast, and, of course, special belly rubs for Jet. At 5 p.m. each night, Jet readies himself at the door to walk to the dog park. (The Nonahood is definitely the place for dog lovers!) Jet loves playing and running with his other pooch pals. However, he always keeps a keen eye on Kevin and never ventures too far. Jet is the most unassuming pooch you could ever meet. They built a great bond that can never be broken and have been a blessing to each other during the pandemic. Kevin says that Jet has a “specialness” about him. I am sure Jet thinks the very same of Kevin!
A very special thank you to the Nonahood for keeping our dog parks so well-manicured and supplying the bowls, balls, and bags to all of us!
