Tropical Smoothie Café: A New and Healthy Option in Vickrey Place

Long-time community members Bob and Michele Parsons and their youngest daughter, Brittany Parsons, will open Tropical Smoothie Café in May. This café will be located at Vickrey Place off of Narcoossee Road.

Having lived in the Isle of Pines for just shy of 30 years, the Parsons family has seen our area grow and change from cow pastures to a flourishing community. Bob remembers a time when the nearest Publix was 23 miles away and shares, “Back then, no one delivered anything, and if you forgot something you’d simply have to wait till your next trip.” I asked if he liked all the change. “I like the convenience of it, the ease of lifestyle.  Progress is good! What I dislike is that the schools and stores weren’t here 27 years ago when my kids were growing up.”

Opening Tropical Smoothie Café simply brings even more options to our community! Bob states, “Healthy living is all about choices. TSC simply gives you the choice to make a healthy decision.” Tropical Smoothie Café’s menu options range from low-calorie smoothies to breakfast and lunch flatbreads, salads, wraps, and even a kid’s menu. Menu items are made to order so you can add desired items or remove others. In addition to traditional protein meal options such as turkey, chicken, and steak, vegetarian meatless proteins also are available.

Bob says he looks forward to getting Tropical Smoothie Café involved in our community needs. “The store’s philosophy is one of community involvement. We have ‘Tropitude,’ which means we want to extend the ‘funness’ of our business into the local community.”  Tropical Smoothie Café “gives back” by supporting Camp Sunshine, a camp for terminally ill children and their families. Last year, Tropical Smoothie Café was able to donate $1 million toward this charity. The Parsons look forward to supporting Camp Sunshine in addition to causes within our local community.

I asked Bob what we can look forward to at the grand opening in May. He said, “There will be an exciting giveaway! Also, look forward to the TSC mobile phone app that will launch in June, where you can order, prepay, then pick up your smoothie and sandwich at the Tropical Smoothie Café smoothie bar.“
