School Update: Sun Blaze Elementary

May 11, 2020 by Todd Perkins

We would like to let our Lake Nona community know how thankful we are for your support during the 2019-2020 school year. There have been so many businesses and individuals in the community that have helped us accomplish our mission – to lead our students to success with the support and involvement of families and the community. As we continue to live this new normal for a season, we want our community to know that you are in our thoughts. We also want to express our appreciation and admiration to our healthcare workers on the front line.

We are so proud of the amazing group of teachers we have at Sun Blaze. During this time of distance learning, our teachers have demonstrated compassion, commitment, and teamwork to provide daily materials and resources for our students. The online classroom cannot compare to seeing and interacting with friends each day, but our teachers have provided opportunities for their students to continue learning together and celebrating goals, like an online Accelerated Reader party. We appreciate our parents’ support as we navigate this uncharted area and look forward to seeing our Stingrays back on campus.

Our administration volunteered to help with the Grab-and-Go Meals provided by Orange County Public Schools, which is operating under a USDA special waiver for meal distribution. They volunteered to prepare and distribute meals at one of the OCPS designated locations. Thank you, Ms. Szymanski, Ms. Rutledge, and Ms. Ramsey for serving students in our community and district during this time; we are so proud of you. For more information and Grab-and-Go Meal locations, please visit OCPS.net.

We would like to encourage our Lake Nona community to follow our social media links to stay connected with Sun Blaze Elementary. The website address is SunBlazeES@ocps.net. You can follow us on Facebook at SunBlazeES.ocps.net and our Twitter account, @SunBlazeElem.

Go, Stingrays!
