Sun Blaze Elementary received a check for $1,500 in recognition of the school’s Recycling Program. In the Southeast Learning Community, our school had a 93% improvement and nearly straight A’s across the board for participation. We want to thank Mr. Barnes, Ms. Rutledge, and the Stingray Green Team for all of their hard work.
We received a visit in March from the News 13 crew to interview fifth grade teacher Nora Marrero as she was selected as the A+ Teacher of the Week. Spectrum News 13 features A+ teachers who inspire and lead students across Central Florida. Congratulations, Ms. Marrero, we are so proud of you and all of our A+ teachers!
During March, we celebrated Read Across America Week schoolwide and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Students enjoyed participating in daily activities that encouraged reading and celebrated one of the most beloved children’s authors. Second grade had the opportunity to become doctors for a week and learned about the human body through fun and educational hands-on experiences. Our fifth grade ELA classrooms were transformed into CAMP LEARN A LOT for the week. The students all loved learning and reading in the great outdoors.
Our Historical Math Night was a fun-filled night of math activities. Families had a wonderful time learning as they participated in math activities involving timelines, problem-solving, math games, math art, and logic puzzles. We want to thank our event sponsors and Partners in Education – Synapse Science & Technology Learning Center and Mathnasium of Lake Nona – who helped create an unforgettable event. We also want to thank our Sun Blaze teachers for facilitating each station.
