Valencia College’s Lake Nona campus will host the Orange County Library System’s (OCLS) pop-up event on Saturday, June 15, which will aim to provide a morning of fun and engagement with the community.
“This is mostly an event geared towards families,” said Erin Sullivan, the OCLS’s Public Relations Administrator. “We want to get them engaged with the library and get the temp of the community to find out how much they know about the library and how interested they are in library events and programs.”
Those who attend can look forward to a performance from Free Daps, an Orlando-based freestyle rap college known for their family-friendly performances at places such as Disney Springs, and a One Scoop Lego Challenge for all ages.
The OCLS also wants to hear from residents in Lake Nona; what they know and like about the library, as well as how interested they would be in library events. The Orange County doesn’t currently have any branches in Lake Nona, but success in events like this could go a long way towards changing that.
This is the first such event that will be hosted in Lake Nona. Attendees will be also able to sign-up for an OCLS library card. The pop-up will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Room 148 of Valencia’s Lake Nona campus.
