Lake Nona H.S. Star Runner, Molly Knox

After the Friday night lights faded this fall, there was still some action to take place in the world of Lake Nona athletes. Early Saturday mornings were typically reserved for high school cross country meets. For senior Molly Knox, this Saturday ritual has become one of the things she has looked forward to the most. A former Lions’ runner says of Knox, “I have had the pleasure of watching her (Molly) flourish not only as a student-athlete but also as a leader. She inspires her peers with her passion to lead and the heart she puts into everything she sets her mind to. I’m very proud of her, seeing all that she has accomplished.”  Let’s get to know Molly a little more.

What sports do you play at Lake Nona HS?

Cross Country and Track

This is my 4th year running.

What is your Grade Point Avg.?

My GPA is 4.5.

What do you enjoy most about participating in athletics at Lake Nona HS?

I enjoy my team the most. They are amazing people who make running fun. Cross country wouldn’t be the same without them.

What is your most memorable moment from your athletics career?

My most memorable moment was districts my sophomore year because it is my personal record and our team placed first. It felt great to personally contribute to our success as a team.

What lesson has your coach taught you about life?

My coach has taught me a lot over the years, which I am truly grateful for. The one that has stuck with me the most, though, is that I always need to be proud of myself no matter what when I cross the finish line.

Who is your sports hero and why do you admire them?

My sports hero is my former teammate Adair Lyden, who is now up at the University of Florida. The past three years I spent running with her were amazing. When you watch Adair run, you can see how passionate she is about the sport. Every day, she would come to practice with determination to do the best that she could.

What is your plan after you finish high school?

After high school, I plan on going to college, however, I do not plan on running for one. Running will just be something I do for fun.

I participate in Cru and Key Club

What is the biggest competition of the year, and where can fans go to watch it?

One of our biggest races will be districts as it will determine whether we move on to regionals. It will be at Seminole College.
