Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis just signed a 30-day stay-at-home mandate for the entire state of Florida. The order will go into effect Thursday at midnight. This order is intended for all residents to take a pause amid the coronavirus pandemic to prevent any further spreading of COVID-19. The decision ultimately came to be as Florida’s cases near 7,000 with more than 80 dead. DeSantis decided it was time.
“I’m issuing an executive order directing all Floridians to limit movements and personal interactions outside the home to only those necessary and essential activities,” Gov. DeSantis stated.
Florida residents are still allowed to go out for groceries and medicine.
DeSantis has plans to accelerate infrastructure projects currently under construction since fewer drivers will be on the roadways. This will include the Sand Lake Road and International Drive extension. DeSantis hopes this will lessen the blow of the economic fallout the order is sure to cause.
