On May 4, Amazon announced its donation of $100,000 to the leading hunger-relief organization in the United States, Feeding Florida. Feeding Florida, the partner state association of Feeding America, estimates that Amazon’s donation will provide approximately 600,000 meals to Floridians across our state’s 67 counties. Amazon’s donation also will assist Feeding Florida’s network of food banks by providing fresh fruits and veggies to the families who need it the most during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rob Packett, who works as southeast regional director of operations at Amazon, elaborated on the donation that will help supply food for the thousands of Floridians impacted by the unprecedented pandemic.
“Amazon is committed to supporting Floridians year-round but especially during times of need. We’re honored to team up with Feeding Florida to do our part in making sure that Floridians have access to the food essentials needed to make it through these challenging times,” said Packett.
The state of Florida has seen a 600% increase in need for food, according to Feeding Florida, because of the coronavirus’ devastating impact on jobs, leaving some Floridians without a stable income.
“We are grateful to receive such a generous donation from Amazon, especially during this time of increased need,” stated Robin Safley, executive director of Feeding Florida. “As families continue to feel the economic impacts of COVID-19, donations like this allow our network of 12 food banks to continue providing nutritious meals to individuals in need throughout the state.”
Amazon emphasizes its dedication to serving the communities in which it operates by partnering with nonprofits, like Feeding Florida, that are actively making a difference.
