SUMMARY:26th ANNUAL STAMP OUT HUNGER!
DESCRIPTION:SECOND HARVEST PARTNERS WITH CENTRAL FLORIDA LETTER CARRIERS FOR \n26th ANNUAL STAMP OUT HUNGER! \nFood Bank Encourages Participation in Nation’s Largest Single-Day Food Drive \n  \nWHAT:           On May 12\, Central Florida residents are encouraged to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods – such as canned soups\, pasta and cereal – next to their mailboxes for local letter carriers to collect as part of the 26th annual Stamp Out Hunger!national food drive. \n  \nThis food drive falls during a particularly critical time for food-insecure families\, as children approach summer vacation and will not have access to free or reduced-price meals at school. \n  \nThe letter carriers will drop the donations off at various post office locations\, where they will be sorted by hundreds of Second Harvest volunteers. Second Harvest drivers will then transport the donations to the food bank to be distributed to local individuals and families in need. \n  \nStamp Out Hunger! is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. Last year\, local carriers collected approximately 227\,977 pounds of non-perishable food for distribution\, translating to about 189\,981 meals. \n  \nFor more information\, visit www.FeedHopeNow.org. \n  \nWHEN:           Saturday\, May 12 \n  \nWHERE:         Along postal routes across Central Florida \n  \nCONTACT:    Stephanie Goenaga \n407-657-4818 (office) \nStephanieGoenaga@costacg.com \n  \n____________ \n  \n  \nAbout Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida\nSHFBCF is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. SHFBCF secures and distributes food and grocery products to approximately 550 local nonprofit feeding programs throughout Central Florida. Last year\, with the help of food and financial donors\, volunteers and a caring\, committed community\, the food bank distributed nearly 56 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries\, soup kitchens\, women’s shelters\, senior centers\, day care centers and Kids Cafes. In addition\, Second Harvest’s 18-week culinary program teaches food service-based technical\, life and employability skills to economically hard-pressed adults. Second Harvest is distributing enough food to feed 48\,000 people a day.
